The 4th produced film from Up TV’s Faith and Family Screenplay Competition will debut on the Up Network Saturday, July 12th at 8pm. Having made its world premiere at the recent American Black Film Festival (ABFF), Come Back Dad which stars Charles S. Dutton, Tatyana Ali, Loretta Devine and Brad James, makes the new installment amongst a roster of inspirational films to exclusively debut on the UP channel.

Come Back Dad is a dramatic and emotional turn about forgiveness between a father and daughter. Tatyana Ali plays Nima, an accomplished pianist running her own music school and Charles Dutton plays Othell, her estranged alcoholic father trying to make amends and reenter her life.  The two go on a heart-wrenching journey to redemption and restoration laced with hard truth and love. Loretta Devine stars as Dutton’s sister while Brad James (Up’s Marry Me for Christmas and For Better or Worse) plays her adoring fiancée.

The production of this film is made possible by Up’s continuing partnership with ABFF; in its fourth year, the Up Faith and Family Screenplay Competition develops and promotes faith-based screenplays that focus on the American Black experience. To date, the competition has generated three previous films produced by and aired exclusively on the Uplifting network; In The Meantime, Raising Izzie, and Somebody’s ChildCome Back Dad is written by honorable mention winner Kimberly Walker, and directed and executive produced by Russ Parr and produced by Swirl Films (www.SwirlFilms.com).
