President Obama’s recent endorsement of same sex marriage has been a huge triumph in both the LGBT and black community.
The fight for LGBT equality in the black community has a long history with roots stemming back to the Harlem Renaissance and The Civil Rights Movement.
The movement continues today as many black people struggle to overcome both racial and sexual prejudice.
These Harlem icons have proven to be champions in both the gay rights movement and their respective careers.
