Harlem Resident Melo Scores 62 Points! (video)

carmelo-62Carmelo Anthony set two scoring records last night when he pumped in 62 points as his New York Knicks defeated the Charlotte Bobcats 125-96 at Madison Square Garden: Bernard King’s Christmas Day 1984 franchise record of 60 points and Kobe Bryant’s record for points scored (61) at the current Garden, which opened in 1968.

Unfortunately, the game will still only count as one win for the Knicks, who are now 16-27. This summer, he is expected to opt out of the final year of his Knicks’ contract worth $23.3 million in return for a richer, long-term deal.

But Anthony’s record-shattering evening should give his biggest sponsor, apparel maker Nike, a boost. Read more here.
