Makeup Tips From EVOLUTIONMAN During New York Men’s Day 2014

P2050107Okay, guys get over it, it’s the 21st century and yes men wear makeup – you want to look your best or what? The folks at Hair Room Service and EVOLUTIONMAN joined forces backstage at the debut of New York Men’s Day 2014.  Here are makeup tips for Harlem men from each of the key makeup artists for the event on how they achieved these wearable looks for men, using products designed just for them.

Carlos CamposCarlos Campos:  Key Makeup, Walton Nunez for Hair Room Service. The designer wanted his models to look rugged and healthy. He says:

“In the dead of winter it took a few of my mens favorites to achieve a cohesive yet rugged and polished look for his boys.”

“We started by wiping the models face clean with a make-up remover. Next we went in with Moisture Protect SPF20 from EVOLUTIONMAN and applied a healthy coat of the oil-free moisturizer to each model. We used the Conceal & Treat also by EVOLUTIONMAN and addressed any breakouts or irritation and/or dark circles the models may have had. Next we mixed the Conceal & Treat with the Moisture Protect SPF20 in a 1/4 ratio and created a sheer coat of transparent moisture, with a hint of color over the models face. This evened out the skin at the same time giving the models an unfinished and rugged appearance. If the models had straight lashes we gave them a slight bend to open up his face. We brushed a hint of clear brow gel across the lashes. The next step was using a high shine lip balm to give the models lips a healthy sheen. Finally, we used a clear brow gel, and brushed through eyebrows giving the face a nicely framed appearance.”

BSGBosideng:  Key Makeup,  Jessica Ross for EVOLUTIONMAN:

“The look for Bosideng F/W 2014 was clean shaven with beautiful skin and defined features. The boys got a super close shave using EVOLUTIONMAN Cleanse & Shave. I applied EVOLUTIONMAN Moisture Protect SPF 20 to soothe and moisturize the skin. Then EVOLUTIONMAN Revitalize Eye Gel around the eye area because it is great for de-puffing, which is especially important during fashion week when models have hectic and exhausting schedules. Any blemishes or razor burn were covered with EVOLUTIONMAN Conceal & Treat.  EVOLUTIONMAN Moisture Protect SPF 20 Bronze was swept over the jawbone, blending up onto the temples for contour. Lastly, EVOLUTIONMAN Lip Balm SPF 15 was applied to the lips and eyelids, and the eyebrows were brushed into place.”

bespokenBespoken:  Key Makeup, Ashleigh Ciucci for Hair Room Service:

“Bespoken was all about clean but not too perfect skin. The men were all moisturized with EVOLUTIONMAN Moisture Protect SPF20 and concealed with EVOLUTIONMAN Conceal & Treat sparingly. The under eyes were hydrated with EVOLUTIONMAN Revitalize Eye Gel but the natural darkness was kept for roughness. There was a touch of loose powder used on the center of the forehead and on either side of the nose. The lips were finished off with EVOLUTIONMAN Lip Balm SPF15.”

lucioLucio Castro:  Key Makeup, Diana Manzanares for Hair Room Service. For Lucio Castro the look was to keep the models as natural looking as possible – yet clean:

“We moisturized and concealed where necessary while still keeping the natural cheek color intact. If necessary we added a flush cheek color and a contour to cheekbones for definition. We prepped the skin and moisturized with EVOLUTIONMAN Moisture Protect SPF20, and lip balm. We concealed the skin and then powered on top. We slightly contoured the face. We added a flushed color blush to cheeks to give appearance of naturally flushed skin. If their skin had this we tried to keep the natural flush. If needed we filled in brows and combed them out.”

David Hart

David Hart:Key Makeup, Ahbi Nishman for Hair Room Service. For the David Hart show the designer wanted a no makeup look:

To best achieve that I started each model with EVOLUTIONMAN Moisture Protect SPF 20, with the cold and dry it helped to revive their skin and prep it for the rest of the show. For any models who had blemishes I used EVOLUTIONMAN Conceal & Treat to disguise and also used it to help even out any redness that some of them had.I used the EVOLUTIONMAN Moisture Protect SPF 20 Bronze to give a hint of contour and color to the cheekbones. With some of the darker skinned models I used it all over to even out skin tone and give a healthy glow. Both the Conceal & Treat and Moisture Protect Bronze were blended in with the amazing Beauty Blenders for a seamless and natural look.  All of the models also got EVOLUTIONMAN Lip Balm, both for its healing properties and to give the lips a nice soft and natural appearance.”

Blemishes and late night party eyes were concealed with EVOLUTIONMAN Conceal & Treat. The under eyes were hydrated with EVOLUTIONMAN Revitalize Eye Gel.
