Harlem River Looking South, 1890

harlem river looking south at harlemThe High Bridge and Washington Bridge, on the Harlem River, looking south, at piers, wharves and boats along the Harlem River shoreline, 1890.

As these men and women on the shoreline illustrate, It must have been very natural to take ones boat in Harlem down to the pier shoreline to row up and down the Harlem River – amazing.

The two photographs shot by William Henry Jackson and W.H. Jackson were combined to create the image above.
